Poems without Tunes
is the name of an exhibition whose painting were done by patients of
psychiatric care in Ibn Khaldoun sanatorium in Aleppo.
*
The idea, the financing and the organizing of the exhibition
were the effort of Kawaf Art Gallery under the supervision of the
Gallery's manager artist Tayseer Kawaf.
*
This project is considered
one of the most important experiments in the field of Art in its
humanitarian and educational depth. The project
high-lights the human loss and confusion from an artistic point of
view. It was arranged during 2001-2002 and an image book was
printed to document the phases of the experiment and was in three
different languages: Arabic, English and French.
*
The exhibition was held
under the patronage of the Minister of Culture in Syria at Ghoethe
Institute in Damas-cus on 18/2/2002, and at Kawaf Art Gallery in
Aleppo on 15/3/2002.
*
The paintings were not for
sale at that time and they're still among Kawaf Art Gallery
belongings.
*
The management of Kawaf
Art Gallery wishes to reactivate this important experiment in
cooperation with any cultural or humanitarian organization with the
data the Gallery already has, in order to market those paintings in a
way to cover the costs spent by the Gallery on this project, and to
support the inhabitants of the sanatorium financially and morally
under the supervision of a combined committee.
